Do Pakistani Muslims after 70 years of partition think that creation of Pakistan by Jinnah was right step
I don’t know of Pakistani’s views after 70 years of Partition. But I can say about my view. To me Mohammed Ali Jinnah was correct to demand a state of Pakistan. At least there are no cow vigilantes, no body shouts ‘Go to Pakistan’, nobody talks of Muslim appeasement, no communal tension for Ram Nawami processions etc in Pakistan. The Muslims there are living in their own ways whether they are materially better than us or not is immaterial. In fact the BJP has changed the cultural scenario in such a manner that Muslims are afraid to call themselves Muslim in some part of our country. This is the worst outcome of BJP rule which is hitting at the very concept of secularism.
Just think the other ways. Had there been no a partition in 1947, the Muslim population of undivided India would have been 55 crores against a total population of 168 crores and that is 33%. That means one Muslims for every two Hindus. What would have been the scenario then, looking at the ruckus being created by BJP-RSS every now and then.
I think in the event there was no partition, after a time, some of the psedo- Hindus of the present BJP-RSS type might have demanded a separate Hindu Rashtra. See the fun! Nepal with 90% Hindus and only 5% Muslims have foregone the ‘Hindu Rastra’ status willingly which was prevailing for the last 1600 years and has now embraced ‘Secularism’ whereas some of the Hindus are taking about India as Hindu Rastra while India is a well established secular nation and admired by all over the world for this status.
I congratulate the Muslims of India (except J & K), who has shown exemplary restraint under various provocations and over the years have integrated themselves in the main stream of life in India. They are sons of the soil and I don’t have the slightest grudge against them.
As far as J & K is concerned, it is under a constant threat from the intruders from across the boarder. Pakistan is harboring terrorism and as a consequent peaceful people of Kashmir has been blacked mailed into anti-India rhetoric under the force of bullets and as such they are now badly distressed and can not be judged neutrally.
